The Hampton School Boat Club marked its 70th Anniversary in style, with a dinner that was as joyful and warm as the occasion deserved.

Crews spanning nearly seven decades — from 1956 right through to 2024 — filled the room with laughter, shared memories and the kind of camaraderie that only a club like the HSBC can produce. The evening was a celebration in the truest sense, and the energy throughout reflected just how much this club means to so many people across the generations.

Guests heard from former coaches Richard Boulton OH (1985) and Steve Gunn, whose contributions to Hampton rowing have touched countless crews over the years, as well as Ian Gordon OH (1958), a member of the very first HGSBC crew back in 1956. Matthew Hamilton OH (2018), Chair of the Hampton Lions Boat Club (HLBC), also spoke, representing the thriving alumni rowing community that continues to grow from the club’s foundations.

From the fizz reception through to the final toast, it was an evening that looked back with great pride and forward with even greater excitement. Here’s to the next 70 years on the water.
