Hampton’s choristers had the honour of performing Evensong in the historic setting of Queen’s College Chapel at the University of Oxford.

The Chamber Choir, led by Music teacher Mrs Lizzie Esser, is composed of boys from First Year to Upper Sixth. Choral Evensong is normally performed by the Choir of The Queen’s College, Oxford, which is among the finest and most active university choirs in the UK, however visiting choirs are occasionally invited to sing at this beautiful service.

Over 30 members of the Chamber Choir sang a varied programme of liturgical music which included Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C, Ayleward’s Preces and Responses and Evening Hymn, an anthem composed by Balfour Gardiner.

Mrs Esser was delighted with the performance of the choristers in such a beautiful chapel:

It is always a privilege to lead the worship in such a such a historic and beautiful setting. The Chamber Choir rose to the challenge and sang with great musicality and commitment, supported by a large number of friends and family in the congregation. It was wonderful to hear the choir’s voices reverberating around the chapel, and we will all remember the occasion for quite some time to come.
