Hampton School’s Drama Department delivered a thrilling theatrical voyage with a superb production of Treasure Island, featuring a talented cast of more than 30 pupils from the Third Year to the Sixth Form, alongside enthusiastic performers from neighbouring school Hampton High.

This lively adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure brought to the stage a story rich in courage, friendship and discovery, capturing audiences from the very first scene. The  ensemble cast created a vibrant world of buccaneers, long‑buried secrets and daring escapades, with each pupil contributing to the show’s energy, humour and heart. Adding to the excitement was a live band, whose atmospheric score provided the perfect backdrop to the tense stand‑offs and moments of camaraderie. Their music helped immerse audiences fully in the seafaring world of the play and brought an extra layer of professionalism to the production.

A standout feature of this year’s show was its inventive combat choreography. Carefully crafted sequences of swordplay and physical theatre added spectacle and dramatic tension, all performed with precision and commitment by the young cast. Behind the scenes, the pupil technical crew played a crucial role in bringing the production to life. Their work in lighting, sound, set changes and special effects ensured that every moment ran seamlessly.

The spectacular set transformed the stage into a world of high‑stakes adventure, from the flickering hearth of the Admiral Benbow Inn to the towering deck of the Hispaniola and the untamed wilds of Treasure Island. The ship’s reveal was nothing short of breathtaking: an imposing centrepiece complete with an elevated helm and rigging soaring from the rafters, commanding the space with maritime grandeur. The nautical setting pulsed with atmosphere, drawing the audience deep into the peril and exhilaration of the daring voyage.

The partnership between Hampton and Hampton High pupils highlighted impressive teamwork and creativity across both schools. After weeks of rehearsals, the cast delivered a performances that were greeted with enthusiastic applause from family and friends. Treasure Island marked another successful collaboration for Hampton’s drama community, showcasing the enthusiasm and dedication of everyone involved.
