This weekend Mr Doyle and Mr Schofield accompanied a group of five Upper Sixth pupils to Cambridge to compete in the prestigious annual Cambridge Chemistry Race. Whilst they were in town, teachers and pupils caught up over lunch with Hamptonians Cameron Jones OH (2024) and Joe Maheswaran OH (2024); alongside 2025 leavers Sohan Bakhshi and Ben Claxton (half of last year’s team!).
As for the race, the competition is run by the Department of Chemistry in Cambridge and involves groups of pupils working together to answer as many Chemistry questions as they can in 2 hours. This year, the team improved on last year’s efforts and finished in fifth place, earning Hampton a gold award. Pupils were also presented with the coveted “beaker mugs” and a small trophy.
