Earth Day is an annual event observed on April 22, to support efforts to ensure environmental protection. This event is so significant, that is now recognised across more than 193 countries and by more than a billion people.
Hampton School prides itself in its commitment to both implementing and developing effective environmental policies and strategies.
Our Archives detail that in 2023, The Environmental Society was awarded the Eco-Schools Green School Flag for its work on sustainability. Within 12 months, this pupil-run Society oversaw the Schools gradual phasing out of the use of plastic water bottles, as well as an increase in recycling through a rise in second-hand uniform sales.
Winding the clock further back to 2002, the Archive details how Sixth formers from both Hampton School and Lady Eleanor Holles School were fortunate to have listened to guest speaker Mr. Satish Kumar (Lifelong environmental activist) speak on the relevance of the environment to our livelihoods. So inspired by the talk, pupils assisted Mr. Cullen to plant a tree in the School grounds (as seen in the attached image).
Here at Hampton, we aspire to enable our Pupils to not only to make sense of the world, but also to want to improve it and make a difference for good.
